Wheel Hub Dynamometer System

JKT's Wheel Hub Dynamometer System (WHD) is developed for automotive autonomous driving testing, and can also be applied to high and low temperature environments as well as sunlight simulation testing. WHD adopts a brand-new design concept. It consisting of two/four integrated wheel hub Dyno which rotates the hub relative to the rim when the wheel is in a standing position.
In contrast to chassis dyno or shaft coupling test bench, this wheel hub dyno does not need complex infrastructure. By using distributed turntable, different steering angles can be set, which also allows speed-dependent steering counter forces to be taken into account

With the development of intelligent driving systems, coupled with the growing complexity and criticality of traffic conditions, the verification processes for these functions have become correspondingly more sophisticated, stringent and costly. Real-world testing is particularly constrained, as an increasing number of relevant traffic scenarios can only be evaluated within limited scopes.

Restrictions are especially pronounced for testing of hazardous operating conditions.

The resulting ViL solution is particularly well suited for the evaluation of automated driving functions. Optionally in combination with AD / ADAS hard- and software.

The advanced vehicle-in-the-loop (VIL) testing methodology has been fully developed to facilitate safe, repeatable and efficient vehicle function testing.

The application of advanced VIL in the field of intelligent driving enables functional and integration tests to be completed early in the development cycle. Since the vehicle is physically secured to the dynamometer, the system significantly enhances testing safety.

Additionally, as testing is conducted indoors, all environmental parameters (humidity, ambient light, temperature, etc.) can be precisely controlled, thereby ensuring test repeatability.

Main Functions of the Advanced Vehicle-in-the-Loop in the Development Process of Intelligent Driving

  • Vehicle-level testing, making up for the deficiencies of HIL testing in the highly integrated level of vehicle systems

  • Application of real torque and speed, serving as a key verification link between simulation and actual vehicle road testing

  • Verification of vehicle behavior, braking safety systems, ADAS and autonomous driving control decision-making systems

  • Testing, verification and optimization of the reliability of control strategies and embedded systems

  • Development of autonomous driving & ADAS and related test verification
